Leaving everything to the imagination, Coralie and her husband’s recent purchase was nothing short of a shell when they got their hands on the place. Merely a ruin house - a basic stone structure - they started from zero in a total renovation project in need of a huge amount of perseverance and dedication. With no electricity or water, every improvement they made was only a positive and a step in the right direction. They finished the bulk of the restoration work in six months, give or take, and have been ticking off jobs from their growing to-do list ever since.

After a challenging uphill battle with all things project build, Coralie took to decor magazines, Pinterest and Maison&Object to feel inspired to transition onto the next stage of the project: decorating. Channeling a good old mix and match of her favourite styles, her home resembles a myriad of contemporary, french and rustic. She truly believes, despite her endless internet browsing, that her home is inspired by her parents home - “interior design is a family thing.” Ensuring the home is well catered for just that - family - Coralie placed huge importance on a balance between a minimalist house for her husband - who finds solace in a clutter free zone - whilst also encapsulating cosiness for her appreciation. The house also has plenty of outdoor space to keep the dog happy and is a stones throw from the seaside, where they ramble and dwell often.

Determined to make their forever home a reality, it wasn’t all plain sailing for the couple. Rewind back to a couple of 25 year olds approaching banks to secure a loan, with unstable professions, it’d be hard to picture the stage they’re at now with their beautiful home. A true representation of not taking ‘no’ for an answer. Tangled with the amount of effort and hardship that was involved to get their home to where it is now, and the majority of their furniture built by them, Coralie and her husband count themselves lucky to have a place to call home that represents their values and is lined with cherished items.  It’s certainly a big challenge taking on a build or renovation but it's also incredibly rewarding when you can finally sit back and enjoy it. Research and pre planning is key but Coralie whole heartedly believes it's a great adventure not worthy of hesitation.
